Frequently asked questions
What is a sitemap.xml and why do I need one?
A sitemap.xml is a list of all the important pages on your website in a standard format. Search engines like Google use it to discover and index your pages faster and more completely. It's especially helpful for new or large sites.
What does the robots.txt file do?
robots.txt tells search engines which parts of your site they may and may not crawl, and points them to your sitemap. Use the 'disallow paths' option to exclude something like an /admin or /cart path.
Where do I place these files?
Put both files in the root of your website so they're reachable at yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml and yourdomain.com/robots.txt. Then submit the sitemap in Google Search Console for the best results.
Are my URLs stored?
No. The files are generated entirely in your own browser. Your URLs are never stored or sent — no server is involved.
