Why does Google count pixels instead of characters?
Google truncates titles and descriptions by their real rendered width in pixels, not by a fixed character count. A title with many wide letters (like W and M) fits less far than one with narrow letters (like i and l). This tool measures the pixel width, so the preview matches what actually shows up in search results.
What's a good length for my title and description?
As a guide: keep the page title under roughly 600 pixels (about 50–60 characters) and the meta description under roughly 920 pixels (about 140–160 characters). The tool warns you the moment you go over the limit, so you know Google won't cut your text off.
Does Google always use my title and description verbatim?
