Bouw- en Renovatiebedrijf Kurt is a construction and renovation company in Best, in the Eindhoven region: renovations, new builds, kitchens, bathrooms and verandas. Their customers are not monolingual, and neither is the website any more.
Three languages, done properly
The site exists in Dutch, English and Turkish. Not just the text — the URLs too:
/diensten, /en/services and /tr/hizmetler point at the same page in the
visitor’s language. That is more work than dropping a language picker in the
corner, but it is the difference between a site that gets found in three
languages and a site that gets found in one and hides the rest behind a button.
All the content — services, projects, blog, reviews and the company details — lives as Markdown and YAML in the repository. No CMS, no login, no monthly licence, and no update button that can take the site down on a Tuesday morning.
What else is in it
- A social feed. The latest Instagram and Facebook posts appear on the home page automatically. The company posts anyway; that work should not have to be done twice.
- A contact form that arrives. Sent via Resend, with optional bot protection. A quote request lost to a spam filter costs more than the entire site.
- Static where it can be. Pages are prebuilt and served from Cloudflare’s network; only the form and the feed run on the server.
The second version
The current site is not the first. A working version already existed, built with a different generator. It was rebuilt once it became clear what was actually needed: three languages, content the client can maintain, and pages that load instantly on a phone at a building site.
That is normal. A first version that is live tells you more about what you need than any amount of research beforehand.
